Melody School, Chimaltenango
“My Melody School” opened in 2003, in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, with just five students in a single one-room building.
in the beginning, the school's director rode his bike to the markets and knocked on doors to deliver the message of hope through education. With many families living in extreme poverty, parents are focused on survival, not education. Children as young as three contribute to the family income by selling products such as avocados in the local market or on the streets. As sponsors came on board to support individual students or the school, the school now welcomes 95 students from kindergarten to grade 10. In 2023, the first students completed their high school, a huge step towards breaking the cycle of poverty for them and their families!
