The Gambia 2023: Restoring Care, Renewing Connections

In April, Medicos en Accion returned to The Gambia for the first time since the pandemic, reuniting with colleagues and continuing critical surgical care at Kanifing General Hospital. Supported by a dedicated team and partners from BC Children’s Hospital, the mission focused exclusively on thyroid patients—providing life-changing surgeries and ongoing follow-up through the National Thyroid Clinic established in 2015.

From complex procedures and long-term patient relationships to new collaborations and meaningful reunions, this mission reflected the lasting impact of sustained care and partnership.
