With our largest team to date, five operating rooms, and an expanded hearing clinic, our Guatemala team completed another highly successful mission serving Indigenous Mayan communities with limited access to health care. Over two weeks, the team performed 184 gynecology, general, and ENT surgical procedures and provided hearing care to 139 clients—addressing urgent needs that directly support health, mobility, and quality of life.

Welcome to the 2024 Antigua Mission and thank you to our volunteers and donors whose generosity makes this work possible. This mission marks Medicos en Accion’s 23rd anniversary and our 21st mission to Antigua, continuing a long-standing partnership with Hospital Hermano Pedro.

In April, Medicos en Accion returned to The Gambia for the first time since the pandemic, reuniting with colleagues and continuing critical surgical care at Kanifing General Hospital. Supported by a dedicated team and partners from BC Children’s Hospital, the mission focused exclusively on thyroid patients—providing life-changing surgeries and ongoing follow-up through the National Thyroid Clinic established in 2015.
